Jerry continues to make his mark on the
international music scene. He collaborated with the internationally renowned
LYNNE ARRIALE TRIO on his CD, GOODY FOR YOU. Lynne is recognized as one of the
finest jazz pianists in the world, as is drummer, STEVE DAVIS. BLUE NOTE
recording artist JACKIE ALLEN, who co-produced Jerry's first CD, THIS FUNNY
WORLD, suggested that he record with the finest musicians from Chicago on that
recording. That CD features the DEAN ROLAND TRIO. He has continued to record
with only the best on seven follow-up CD's. Award winning guitarist JACK
GRASSEL is featured on MISTER GRILLO, as is pianist BARRY VELLEMAN. Other
outstanding musicians appear on every recording he has made. He is currently
performing regularly with the NICK CONTORNO ORCHESTRA with whom he also
recorded a critically acclaimed CD.
Plans are currently in the works
for Jerry to be working with producer ERIC HOCHBERG on his ninth CD. Mr.
Hochberg produced JACKIE ALLEN'S "The Men In My Life" and her current CD
"Tangled."
Jerry was born and raised in Hibbing, Minnesota, and is of
Italian and Scandinavian descent. He has a business degree from the University
of Minnesota and taught business courses for many years. He studied jazz vocal
at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music with Jackie Allen and Martha Artis. A
professional performer since the age of 20, Jerry also studied jazz dance and
acting at the University of Wisconsin. He has appeared in musical theatre
productions, jazz clubs, festivals, casino stage shows, industrial shows,
commercials, and films. His repertoire consists mostly of standards for which
he has found his own unique style. He is based in Shorewood, Wisconsin.
Mr. Grillo is receiving airplay in France, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland,
The Netherlands, Australia, Russia, Japan, Canada, Indonesia, Italy, the Czech
Republic, Croatia, Argentina, Brazil, Sweden, China, England, Germany, as well
as in the USA. Privatejazz.com ---an internet jazz radio station---is featuring
Jerry's music in rotation as is the Minnesota Cable Television Network. He has
performed in jazz clubs in London, Paris, Florence, and Prague, in addition to
his gigs in the USA. You can request to hear tracks from any of Jerry's CD's by
calling the local jazz or alternative radio station in your city. We would be
happy to provide CD copies to any radio station or cable network that features
jazz or big band vocals. Promo packages are also available for clubs and
festival events.
Mr. Grillo's "early years" is the subject of a 1989
documentary by filmaker Cathy Cook from New York City. |
